The Foundation is a locally-focused charity that supports academic and scholastic development as well as other charitable activities to children in Paul’s name, including the Paul R. Memorial Scholarships. To date, more that $200,000 in scholarships have been awarded to student-athletes from Garden City to assist with college expenses and tuition.  Additionally, the foundation has donated $300,000 to fund various youth based organizations.

Examples of where The Foundation has been able to address the needs in the community in Paul’s name:

  • Supporting a capital improvement program at a school for the children with special needs
  • Purchasing entertainment equipment for the pediatric center at Winthrop Hospital
  • Donating new computers, tables and chairs to the Garden City Library for use in its Children’s computer room
The foundation has been the source of an enormous good for deserving children in our community and a meaningful tribute to the life and legacy of Paul Eckna who was my brother. The Foundation continues to be operated by his family and friends so that all of its proceeds are used directly to respond to local needs.
We thank you for your support.
