The Paul R. Eckna Memorial Foundation was established in 2001 by the family and friends of Paul Eckna, a Garden City resident and Cantor Fitzgerald employee who was killed in the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.
The Foundation is a locally-focused charity that supports academic and scholastic development as well as other charitable activities to children in Paul’s name, including the Paul R. Memorial Scholarships. To date, more that $200,000 in scholarships have been awarded to student-athletes from Garden City to assist with college expenses and tuition. Additionally, the foundation has donated $300,000 to fund various youth based organizations.
Examples of where The Foundation has been able to address the needs in the community in Paul’s name:
- Supporting a capital improvement program at a school for the children with special needs
- Purchasing entertainment equipment for the pediatric center at Winthrop Hospital
- Donating new computers, tables and chairs to the Garden City Library for use in its Children’s computer room
We thank you for your support.
